Spectrum Control has an extensive history of supplying robust, high reliability electronic products into the Space, Energy, Aerospace and Defence markets, with product capabilities satisfying Standard Temperature -55°C to 150°C and High Temperature 150°C to 175°C.
Spectrum Control has developed and qualified a comprehensive range of capabilities and processes to realise hybrid multi-chip modules (MCM’s) suitable for continuous operation at Ultra High Temperature (225°C) and under severe mechanical shock and vibration. Spectrum Control is expanding on its supply of microelectronic products and services supporting mission critical applications, including the design and manufacture of RF/microwave, power and opto-electronics for exposure to harsh environments extremes of temperature and vibration and applications where size and mass are a premium.
With over 70 years experience in the custom design, vertical integration, in-house manufacturing and testing of high reliability microelectronics, Spectrum Control encompasses a blend of harsh environment electronic design and packaging expertise not common in the industry today.
Spectrum Control has a strong heritage of providing proven technologies to harsh environment markets. Spectrum Control's specialist techniques of bare semiconductor die on thick film ceramic interconnect overcomes the high temperature performance and reliability limitations of traditional glass fibre laminate printed circuit boards.
Spectrum Control's high temperature technology can reduce costs and downtime by prolonging the life of expensive drilling and monitoring equipment, with features including extended lifetime at 225°C and on-going development in ultra high temperature ranges of 200+°C. We provide custom microelectronic solutions to reduce unnecessary and costly downtime due to the failure of short lifetime electronics within equipment encountering extremes. This includes Measurement While Drilling (MWD), Logging While Drilling (LWD) and wireline in intelligent completions equipment. Our product solutions are specifically designed to fit down to 1" tubes to provide an ideal solution for small diameter tools operating at depth.
In addition to the high-end multi chip modules, Spectrum Control also offers established flexible automated PCB assembly lines with a range of pick and place, reflow, In-Circuit Test (ICT) and Automatic Optical Inspection (AOI) equipment providing complete end-to-end solutions.
For medical applications where high reliability electronics are required for the harsh conditions such as autoclaves. Spectrum Control is able to provide custom solutions to ensure the reliability and electronic performance of surgical tools and instrumentation are maintained.
From fuel pump control assemblies to highly integrated multi-layer hybrid microcircuits, Spectrum Control offers a wide range of custom design and manufacturing solutions.
Our custom products have been produced for a wide variety of satellite requirements include low cost radiation hardened, high reliability die packaging. Our MIL-PRF-38534 Class K qualification enables us to support quality requirements of both military and commercial space programmes.
Areas of specialisation include contract manufacture of hybrid microcircuits, and custom thick film hybrid electronic modules, as well as our in-house, independently managed ISO 17025 accredited test facility.
We provide both proprietary and custom-designed electronics for a broad range of applications and temperatures and work with our customers to solve their electronics engineering challenges and reduce the total cost of ownership throughout project lifecycles.
Spectrum Control's Great Yarmouth facility includes extensive climate, dynamic and electrical testing and expertise, provides a comprehensive range of services for both internal and external customers.
The breadth of capability allows product and material testing from prototype and pre-production to ongoing quality assurance.
The range of product testing covers components and assemblies for initial approval and accreditation maintenance programmes.
The climatic and dynamic tests are as detailed in BS EN 60068, MIL-STD-202, MIL-STD-883 and other similar standards.
Spectrum Control is also able to provide testing to Subsea specifications BS EN ISO 13628-6:2006 “Petroleum and natural gas industries –Design and operation of subsea production system Part 6: Subsea production control systems.”
Great Yarmouth's facility allows them to actively address component obsolescence management issues involving the evaluation and up-screening of devices for Hi-Rel aerospace, space and defence applications.
Spectrum Control's customers benefit from unparalleled engineering and high temperature, high reliability industry expertise. Our inhouse machining, state-of-the-art engineering, full technology integration, and on-site test capabilities provide for rapid turnaround from prototype to production and deliver full life-cycle support.
